Bricks and Parasites(to EA)

Bricks and Parasites, (to EA)

constriction
does the machine’s roar
hope to drown out
the steadily calling silence
from within
we fight
all forms
of debasement
while the world
mutes all colors
we still see
the light
its beam
leads on
not forward
or back
for all paths
converge
inside
boundless horizons

Sleep

Sleep

Sleeps sneaks about every night,
slips into your room at a certain o’clock
and climbs into bed,

Eyes wide open, fading,
Falling
Fast
Asleep

You

You

By fire’s glow I sit
and listen for your step.
Flames so high
yet there’s a chill
For no fire’s warmth
can be you

Is God A Waring Blender?

Is God a Waring Blender?

Heaven’s machinery grinds on.

Mixed fruit super smoothie,
floating foreign objects
stick in straws,
strawberries, stuck,
make for heavy slurping sounds,
Always,
but bananas,
yogurt, and
orange
mix
through and through.
Waring blenders work in mysterious ways.

Shake, whip, chop or mix,
puree,
Same speed, different noises.
Homogenized
Destiny
Strawberries,
the chosen fruit,
block straws everlasting.

Becalmed

A wide expanse of calm blue water
Unmoored
Adrift
Only horizon in my sights
Becalmed but moving on an unseen current
To the end of the world
To the end of time
Staring hard
the sky and sea are no different
I do not know which I float in
I only know there is movement
That I do not cause
But feel inside me

Fire Triology

Fire Trilogy

A fire so hot
  everything
     becomes
        nothing
 it will go
till it is finished
Surely, that is the key.
Those that burn slightly
go out, but are not complete.

                                                 Does it burn?
                                                 See the flame.
                                                 But does it burn?
                                                 Feel the warmth.
                                                 But is it real?
                                                 Will it ever be
                                                 unless it is tried.
But will the pain be worth the truth?

             As it burns low
do you know when it is finished?
             Ever really see it end?
             It starts,
             A spark, a sputter,
             a glow.
             And it ends.
But did you ever hear it crackle
after you thought it long gone?

Choice

Choice

Time just burns away,
at times,
like a small log
in a bonfire.
Easy to watch
but too hot to grasp.

Anyway, the ashes blow away
before you even have a chance.
And you look to the sky
Maybe a glow,
a sparkle,
or just blue,
still,
and you can’t hold it.

Eyes gaze upward
near to infinity
but the feet
ah, the feet,
stand firm
on solid good earth.
Between the toes it gets,
It feels and can be felt

Alone

You feel the pain edging up your side and
you want to call it loneliness
but you know it’s just the miles
tugging at your innards, begging you to stop
and no longer can you stop.

for you, this is life.

And maybe it is a loneliness, a cry to be heard.

Alone I am

you cannot hold me

I cannot stop

this ceaseless movement

is for me

life

a ritual

time misspent

but not wasted

Alone

Plight of a Modern Day Catholic

Plight of a Modern Day Catholic

Jesus came this morning
as a small butterfly
alighting on a yellow flower
outside my window
inside me
I wept
for no sooner did I recognize him
had he gone.

The shadow shows us light

The shadow shows us light

Strain to hear the space
between the notes
and you will lose
the song
but gain the meaning of sound

repeat the verse
without the words
and thought
will come to you

the shadow shows us light

and you think you can know
yourself
alone
